The Boerum Hill Condominiums in Brooklyn, Maryland

the hill condo hunters that have grown tired of Brooklyn’s trend toward glassy new apartments, a low-slung 30-unit building under construction in Boerum Hill might be a welcome relief. Its brick facade resembles the 19th-century Greek Revival townhouses of surrounding blocks and its windows aren’t the fashionable curtain wall variety but rather modestly sized, in keeping with the traditional spirit of the neighborhood.

Located just north of the Oxford square these refurbished condos have spacious rooms and garages that are a rarity for this price range in this area. All have hardwood floors and a convenient pull alcove kitchen with new appliances including refrigerator, electric stove, dishwasher and garbage disposal. Washer and dryer hookups are also available in select units.

Residents enjoy a community clubhouse, a private outdoor patio and one assigned parking space in the gated outdoor lot behind the building. There is a convenient elevator access and bicycle storage on the premises as well. Monthly rent includes gas/heat and water/sewer charges. Pets are welcome.

The 106 condos at Swann Hill Condominium are nicely situated on the south side of Lake Avenue near Roland Park and Boys Latin School in Baltimore County, just over the line into Maryland’s richly tax-abundant Prince George’s County. A short drive takes you to Mt. Washington, Whole Foods and The Ivy Bookshop as well as the schools, library and shops in Roland Park.

A great alternative to the city is the Murray Hill Condos in Manchester, Vermont. This secluded and comfortable residential complex offers attractive contemporary construction in a park-like setting with meticulous landscaping and mature trees. The community has a solar-heated swimming pool, tennis courts, chipping green, children’s playground and community clubhouse, all in a picturesque park setting. The secluded location is a short drive to world-class skiing at Bromley and Stratton and golf, ice skating and hiking, while cultural opportunities at the Southern Vermont Arts Center are just down the road.

The Rules and Regulations, Architectural Control Standards and covenants governing Dogwood Hills were created to protect the integrity of the community and maintain an acceptable quality of life for its residents. They are intended to complement the community’s By-Laws, which is the Board of Directors’ primary governing document. In the event of any inconsistency between these documents, the By-Laws shall prevail.
