Dometic Cooling Units Review – The CFX3 Keeps Your Goods Cold

If your Dometic refrigerator isn’t cooling, it could be time for a new or remanufactured cooler.

Popular with refurbished rv refrigerators and boaters alike, Dometic fridges are energy-efficient and reliable. Some of them even run on electricity as well as gas, making them a great choice for off-the-grid living!

The best way to keep your goods fresh is to keep them cold. Thankfully, that’s easy to do with one of Dometic’s CFX3 coolers.

What’s more, it can be controlled via Bluetooth or WiFi. Plus, it comes with both AC and DC power cords, so you can keep your cool while you’re on the road.

The CFX3 is also light on its feet, which is a good thing when you’re hauling this unit around. It weighs in at just over 42 pounds empty, on the lower end of the average for compressor model powered coolers we tested.

It’s also on the small side, which isn’t a bad thing if you’re trying to cram it into your camper or trailer. The handles are sturdy and smooth, and retract to the sides when not in use.

Another plus is that it’s quiet enough to listen to while you work, and that’s something you really want in a cooler. It has long copper lines and dual rubber bushings to reduce noise, as well as a pair of louvers on the inside that allow you to adjust airflow and temperature.

In our testing, the CFX3 was able to achieve temperatures that we were impressed with. It cooled our test unit from 50degF down to 7degF in just over three minutes, which is impressive.

While it is not as powerful as many RV rooftop air conditioners, this 12V Dometic unit can still do the job and is easy to install into a standard-size roof cutout.

This is a pretty impressive system, and it’s worth the effort to try if you’re looking for an affordable way to add cooling to your vehicle. The RTX2000 is also sized differently than typical camper units, so retrofitting it into a van roof cutout isn’t as simple as it would be on other vehicles.

While this isn’t the easiest thing to do, it is one of the most important. It will help ensure your new cooler doesn’t get damaged or fail before you’ve had a chance to use it. You’ll also need to take special care of the foam pack and evaporator sealing tape that it includes.
