Health Benefits of Talbina

Talbina is a healthy and tasty food made from barley flour, milk and honey. It is a very simple and delicious recipe that provides many health benefits. It is a good source of complex carbohydrates, dietary fibre, protein, vitamins (B Vitamins, Vitamin E), minerals and antioxidants. It can be a healthy breakfast, lunch or dinner option for the whole family.

The prophet Muhammad PBUH said ”Talbina is a drink that soothes grief and sorrow.” (Hadith, Tibb-e-Nabawi) It contains the highest quantity of soluble fibre which helps reduce bad cholesterol and blood sugar levels. It also helps reduce triglycerides which is the main cause of heart diseases.

It is a rich source of Zinc and Arginine which boosts male and female fertility. It also has a high level of calcium which strengthens bones and teeth. It also protects the skin from UV rays and has anti-aging properties.

To make Talbina, combine the roasted barley flour and water in a saucepan and cook over medium heat until it thickens to a porridge-like consistency. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. Add milk and honey to taste. Serve warm.
